Fixing Credit Reports

Find Out Your Options When It Comes To Fixing Credit Reports

Why would your credit report need to be fixed?

Credit reporting agencies receive all different kinds of information on a daily basis. They deal with millions of consumer's information everyday and it is no surprise that some information is reported inaccurately in their files. Your credit report can contain information that state that you owe bills from months or years ago that you know were paid off. It can also contain information that indicate that you have bills you truly don't have.

Credit reporting agencies may mistake you for someone else with a similar name. If you have a common name then the mistakes may be even more likely. If you have a name that isn't unique or unusual in any way then the agency may have your information on someone else's credit report. They may also have their information on yours. However you look at it credit reporting agencies can make mistakes just like anyone else.

What are your options about fixing your credit report?

There are two ways to fix your credit report: either you do it yourself or have someone else do it. If you do it yourself then you will be looking at spending time and a lot of follow up but if you have someone else do it then you will be looking at spending money and doing a little follow up. Fixing your credit report yourself can involve a lot of time but in the long run it may be worth it. Fixing your report involves finding the wrong or inaccurate information on your report and providing information to prove its inaccuracy. If someone else does this then they would be doing the same thing except they would receive their information from you. You would provide them with the info the agencies request and then they would send them to them on your behalf.
